In the revitalised office building aer in Munich’s Neuperlach district, a contemporary co-working space has been created that brings together collaboration, exchange and retreat within an open working environment. The building is regarded as a lighthouse project for future-oriented workplaces: CO₂-neutral architecture, rooftop gardens, attractive outdoor areas and an innovative usage concept define the transformation of the former Allianz building.
The revitalisation and refurbishment were planned by Oliv Architects, Munich, and the project has already been honoured with the Best Workspaces Award 2025. The interior design of the co-working space on the ground floor was developed by interior designer Isabella Tsiolis (Hein + Kreinecker GbR). As office furnishing partner, S+W supported the implementation with holistic solutions for furniture, acoustics and textile elements.
Covering approximately 1,200 m², the co-working space offers an open, inspiring working environment with flexible workstations, lounge areas, a modern kitchenette and eight separate meeting rooms. Three of these rooms can be combined to form a spacious town hall for up to 120 people and are shared and bookable by the building’s tenants.
A defining element of the interior concept is the integration of 'lockers' by werner works, which are positioned in niches along the circulation routes. They provide personal storage exactly where it is needed in everyday work while blending calmly and seamlessly into the architectural context. The locker units are finished in stone grey, feature white number graphics, and are equipped with electronic keypad locking systems.
The 'lockers' are complemented by elements from the 'parkour' system as well as acoustically effective parkour storage alcoves such as Diner and Fonzelle. These create small, sheltered retreat spaces for focused work or short conversations while simultaneously improving the acoustics within the open corridor areas.
The combination of storage, acoustic retreat zones and modular system furniture demonstrates how werner works products at aer Munich go beyond pure functionality: they structure spaces, support different ways of working and actively contribute to a modern, user-centred working environment.
